Moises Herrara and Marysabel Caballero on their farm Finca El Puente in Marcala, Honduras

I have had the pleasure of meeting Moises and Marysabel Caballero the proprietors of Finca El Puente.  They came to Everyman back in 2009 and I was honored to prepare the coffee that they had raised and processed.  Looking back I bet they drink a lot of their own coffee and perhaps the excitement was mostly mine.  The following year the Caballeros brought their kids with them.  Their boys were about 6 and 8 years old, but that didn’t stop them from ordering two cappuccinos which they cleverly laced with several packets of sugar.

I saw them again in London when Moises’ other farm La Tortuga placed in the Honduran Cup Of Excellence. It was there that I met Don Fabio who partners with Moises on La Tortuga and is also Marysabel’s father.  Marysabel’s maternal grandfather Felipe García established the family farm.  Later, the responsibility of certain areas or sections of land were delegated to certain family members. Marysabel and Moises are responsible for the area of the farm deemed Finca El Puente.

After dedicating themselves to producing high-quality coffee they decided to enter into some coffee competitions in Honduras. El Puente is a fast horse and has placed at the top of every coffee contest it has ever entered. This shit is fierce! In 2005 Peter Guliano, President and co-owner of ccc, nicknamed her the purple princess. The berry-lavender aroma and silky body is certainly no accident.  It’s all thanks to the hard work and dedication to quality that makes this princess the fairest of them all.
