Everyman at BIKINI BAR

by sam on June 16, 2013

BIKINI BAR on its own is an incredible space. It is devastatingly gorgeous, a midcentury shrine to Hawaii, Tiki culture, and design. It functions as a surf shop and design studio for fashion designer Aileen Oser. A dream that began on the beach at Waikiki continues today in a historic Tribeca factory. Established in 1994, Bikini Bar® is a design company passionate about making every day a vacation! The vintage surf shop has reopened specializing in custom boards by legendary shapers, along with an organic handcrafted coffee bar.

Coffee is very difficult to pair with other ingredients because of it’s intensity. Therefore, most, if not all, coffee shops stick to the traditional ingredients of water, air, milk and sugar. Everyman at BIKINI BAR is a revolutionary concept. The way that people have historically incorporated coffee into their culture is amazing, but the drawback is that it can hinder progress. If you have an strict idea for how coffee is served and consumed it may discourage new recipes.

The mission of the pop up, Everyman at BIKINI BAR, is to challenge the public’s conception of what is possible with coffee by pairing coffees with nontraditional ingredients. Another goal is to broaden our own skill of coffee preparation by creating drinks with curious ingredients that achieve balance and complexity. All Counter Culture Coffee all the time!

Open to the public
